The Art Yard Sale

Kaos Projects

The Art Yard Sale is one of Kaos Projects’ flagship events, held annually in Jubilee Square as part of the Brighton Fringe Festival. Designed to break down barriers between artists and audiences, the event transforms the square into a vibrant open-air marketplace where over 30 contemporary artists sell their work directly to the public.

From limited-edition prints and original works to live demonstrations and on-site framing, the day offers visitors a rare chance to meet artists in person, discover new talent, and purchase art without the gallery middleman. Free entry ensures a wide mix of collectors, casual buyers, and families can engage with art in an open and accessible way.

Behind the scenes, Kaos Projects manages every aspect of production; from curating and supporting the artists, logistics, marketing and public engagement. The event reflects Kaos Projects’ wider mission as a creative consultancy and production studio: connecting artists and audiences, building meaningful relationships and producing high-impact cultural moments.

Alongside the live event, Kaos Projects also hosts the Virtual Art Yard Sale. This is a weekend of special limited editions and timed releases in an online space. This digital platform allows collectors worldwide to access artworks and connect with artists, extending the reach of the Yard Sale far beyond Brighton.

For participating artists, the Art Yard Sale is also a valuable professional development opportunity. Kaos Projects provides mentoring and practical guidance on pricing, presentation and sales, ensuring artists are supported to maximise the event’s potential. For the public, it remains a celebration of creativity, community, and direct access to contemporary art.
