Primavera by Mateo Humano draws on his signature approach of blending forgotten imagery with traditional patterns and symbols to create a “monologue of the soul”.
Inspired by carpets traditionally woven by women, the work honours ancient cultures while celebrating feminine strength. In Spanish, Primavera translates to “springtime,” and by portraying his subject holding a few loose lilies and deep in quiet reflection, Humano evokes the contemplative possibilities and renewal that come with the changing seasons.
